The Housemaid’s Secret (by Freida McFadden)
Freida McFadden totally won me over this year! I’m currently hooked on The Housemaid series, and the second book, The Housemaid’s Secret, is just as wild and unexpected as the first. I can’t believe how she weaves these crazy twists and surprises into the story. She’s a total writing wizard!
In The Housemaid’s Secret, we catch up with Millie a few years after the first book. She’s working for the Garricks, a fancy couple living in a gorgeous penthouse. She cleans and cooks for them, and everything seems great until she realizes she hasn’t met Mrs. Garrick, who stays in the guest room and doesn’t want to be disturbed. Millie starts to notice some strange things about Mrs. Garrick, so one day she bravely knocks on the guest room door and is shocked by what she sees. This unexpected sight triggers Millie to return to her old behaviors.
Millie’s life is much more exciting than just being a housemaid, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I’ve really enjoyed reading Freida’s books without knowing too much about the plot. It’s been a fun surprise every time! The twists and turns are so unexpected! I love Millie and can’t wait to see what she does in the next book, The Housemaid Is Watching.
I purchased the audiobook of The Housemaid’s Secret from Audible, and the narration by Lauryn Allman is absolutely amazing!
I’m working my way through all of Freida McFadden’s books. My previous reviews are linked below.
