The Bookstore Sisters (by Alice Hoffman)

The Bookstore Sisters by Alice Hoffman was a free listen through my Amazon Prime membership. It’s an Amazon Original short story that I was able to listen to through my Audible membership. I’m a sucker to read anything with ‘bookstore’ in the title.

Isabel left her hometown of Brinkley’s Island, Maine to live in New York City. Her sister, Sophie, remained in Maine to run their parent’s bookstore. Their parents are deceased and the sisters don’t talk anymore. A cryptic message has Isabel returning home. This is a story of going back home and the unexpected healing benefits. The setting of a bookstore and comforting baked goods were soothing to my soul. Hoffman’s writing is beautiful and her descriptions of each scene were incredible.
